We launched the boat on Nov 1 from Norfolk, Virginia, after finishing up preparations for the long journey ahead. Since then we’ve sailed over 800 miles south, with a few stops along the way.  We have loaded supplies including gasoline and solar power generators, baby formula and the first load of Lifestraw high volume water filters.  We are on track to be in Puerto Rico, up and running with available volunteer opportunities, by early December.

We’ve set up a separate funding campaign for the Lifestraw water filters and have been able to raise funds to bring with us 22 filter systems so far.  These will have a huge impact, as they can filter up to 18,000 liters each and require no electricity to operate.

We are also continuing to raise general funds for buying extra tools, solar generators and other supplies that will be hard to get once we are in Puerto Rico.  We are very grateful with the support we have received so far.

On the Horizon…Our upcoming projects and goals for the next week:

  • Arrive in Ft. Lauderdale by 11/18.
  • Final provisioning and loading of additional relief supplies.
  • Depart Florida by 11/21.

Thanks again to all of you who have contributed to make this possible!
